dash -the instrument

DASH is a molecular diagnostic device platform capable of running a PCR based Covid 19 test in 10 min.

DASH has received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the FDA.  The platform was developed for infectious disease testing, and the Covid 19 assay will be followed by additional assays currently under development.

The development of this product was a close cooperation between Minute Molecular Diagnostics, Westberg Innovation LLC, Northwestern University, and the DiMonte Group.

The initial work was a collaboration between Westberg Innovation LLC and Minute Molecular, focused on developing very rapid PCR system.  Once a functional rapid PCR prototype had been fabricated, Northwestern University faculty got involved in the development of a Covid 19 assay that could run on this fast PCR device.

As the development progressed the DiMonte Group was engaged to develop the electronics and the software for the production device.  The DiMonte Group also developed the industrial design for the styling of the instrument.

Westberg Innovation LLC was responsible for developing and designing all the inner mechanisms for the instrument.

The DASH consumable is made up of an injection molded body functionalized by laminate structures on both sides and populated with lyophilized regents.

The development of the manufacturing processes for the consumable cartridge were a collaboration between Westberg Innovation LLC, Minute Molecular, and Northwestern University.

A fully automated assembly system for the consumable has been developed and implemented at a contract manufacturer.

The DASH instrument is currently being produced at a second contract manufacturer.

Westberg Innovation worked very closely with both of these contract manufacturers to ensure a smooth transition from development to production.
